Artist Bio Megan Stobaugh has always found solace in shedding light on darkness. She uses her work as a means of both exploring and exposing the private turmoil that mental illness causes in day-to-day life. Using personal experience as her guide, she aims to produce images that depict the perils of psychiatric disorders in new and unexpected ways. Through her love of process and the figure, her pieces are meticulously planned and executed with behaviors that border on compulsive. Research also plays an important role in her art, as she hopes to incorporate the sciences of psychology and neuropathology into the work. She is a graduate of the University of Akron’s Myers School of Art, where she received her BFA in Painting and Drawing with a minor in Art History. Stobaugh has received such awards as the Harris Stanton Gallery Scholarship and the Gillette Study of the Arts Abroad Scholarship. |
